Rava Peas Tikki is an easy to make Indian starter made with green peas as stuffing and with semolina. It's crunchy on the outside and spicy inside. This can be served as a starter or you can make a smaller version of the Tikki for cocktail parties.

  • ½ cup semolina
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • ½ tsp ginger paste
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 ½ tbsp oil + for frying
  • for stuffing
  • 1 cup green peas boiled and lightly crushed
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds
  • ½ tsp ginger paste
  • 2 green chillies finely chopped
  • 1 tsp dry mango powder
  • salt to taste

Steps

  1. In a pan heat 1 tsp oil and add the cumin seeds.
  2. Let it crackle, then add the ginger paste.
  3. Sauté for a while and add the chopped green chillies.
  4. Sauté for 30 seconds and add the crushed green peas.
  5. Add the salt, red chilli powder and dry mango powder.
  6. Fry till the moisture from the green peas is evaporated.
  7. Remove and keep aside.
  8. In another pan bring 1 cup of water to a boil.
  9. Remove from heat and add the ginger paste and red chilli powder. Mix well
  10. Slowly add the semolina while stirring.
  11. Mix well so that there are no lumps.
  12. Let it sit for 10 minutes
  13. Add 1 ½ tbsp of oil and knead it to a soft dough.
  14. Divide the dough into 8 portions.
  15. Stuff each portion with the stuffing and form a small ball.
  16. Heat oil in a pan and shallow fry the Tikki.
  17. Serve hot

Serving Instructions

Serve it hot with any chutney or ketchup
