Kadhai Mushroom is a variety of Kadhai paneer or kadhai chicken. It’s a form of cooking which originated in northern India. This gravy consists of tomatoes and spices cooked in slow heat for a long period of time. Kadhai Mushroom is very popular among vegetarians.

  1. In a wok heat the oil.
  2. Add the cumin seeds and green chillies. Saute for few seconds till the seeds starts to crackle.
  3. Add the onions and fry till they are light golden brown. Make sure to fry them on a low to medium heat. This will take about 5 minutes
  4. Add the ginger garlic paste and fry for another 3 minutes.
  5. To this add the coriander powder, red chilli powder, garam masala powder and salt. Fry for a minute. Add a little water to prevent it from burning.
  6. To this add the tomato puree and fry till the oil separates. If at any point of time, the mixture sticks to the bottom of the pan add a little water.
  7. Add the Kasuri Methi and sugar along with the mushroom. Mis well and a little water to adjust the consistency.
  8. Cook on a medium flame for 5 minutes and serve hot.

Serving Instructions

Serve it hot with jeera rice or paratha.
