Murg patiala is a very famous and delicious dish in Punjab.This dish is also known as Chicken patiala.It is very easy to cook and very rich in gravy.It is served with paratha or naan or plain rice.

  • 600 gms chicken cut into 1"cube
  • 1/2 cup curd
  • 3 tbs melon seeds
  • 2 tbs raisins
  • 1 tbs cashew nuts
  • 1 tbs poppy seed
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 2 dry red chillies
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 green cardamom
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 " cinnamon
  • 3 medium sized onion(chopped)
  • 2 tomato(chopped)
  • 3 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp turmaric powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp coriender powder
  • 1/2 tsp kashmiri mirch powder
  • salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder

  1. Take curd,melon seeds,raisins,cashew nuts and poppy seed and make a smooth paste.Now the paste add with chicken pieces and keep aside for 1 hour.
  2. Now take a wok add oil,then add dry red chillies,bay leaf,green cardamom,cloves,cinnamon when the spices started splutter.
  3. Add chopped onion and ginger-garlic paste and fry till onions golden brown.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and continue.
  5. Now add turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, kashmiri mirch and salt and stir well.
  6. Now add the chicken and cook till the oil comes out of the gravy and chicken is soft. You can add a little water if required.
  7. At last add the cream and garam masala.
  8. Rich and creamy Chicken or Murg Patiala is ready to serve.

Serving Instructions

You can serve this spicy curry with paratha or naan or plain rice.
