Jal Jeera

A refreshing Indian mint and coriander drink.

Main Ingredients Cumin Seeds

Jal jeera has been yet another Indian drink made with mint and coriander paste along with tamarind and other spices. It's served chilled on summer days as a refreshing beverage. You can also serve it as a cold beverage to your parties by substituting the water with plain soda.

  • 1 tbsp mint paste ½ tsp coriander paste
  • 2 tbsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp dry mango powder
  • 1 tsp black salt
  • juice of 2 lemons
  • ¼ cup sugar

  1. In a pan dry roast the cumin seeds till light brown in colour. Do this in a low to medium flame so that it does not burn.
  2. Remove and crush them well in a mortar and pestle.
  3. In a large jug, add the mint paste, coriander paste, sugar, black salt, dry mango powder and crushed roasted powder.
  4. Mix well.
  5. Add 800 ml of water and mix well.
  6. Chill and serve with ice cubes

Serving Instructions

Serve it chilled as a beverage
