Elo jhelo is a very traditional and popular homemade festive bengali sweet. It is very easy to cook. Generally it is prepared during festivals like Vijaya Dashami or Diwali in Bengal.

Take a bowl add maida,baking powder,salt,nigella seeds,1 tbsp oil and 1/2 cup water to make a dough.Cover it and set aside for 30 mins.
After 30 mins take the dough and make small balls.Now take a rolling pin and roll out the balls into a pancake shape.Using a knife cut through the pancake,not upto the edges.Now roll the pancake.
Heat wok and add remaining oil and add the prepared elo jhelo for deep fry till golden brown.Remove all elo jhelo from heat and set aside.
To make sugar syrup, heat a pan add 1 cup water and sugar. When the syrup is thickend,add all the elo jhelo and stir continuously after 5 mins. Switch off the flame.
