Kala Chana is black chickpeas and it has high content of protein. Kala Chana curry is quite popular in northern parts of India especially Punjab. Soup of kala chana is very healthy for old people.

Steps
In a pressure cooker, put kala chana, water, salt, big cardamom & a piece of cinnamon.
Close the cooker and cook on high flame till 1 whistle, then lower the heat and let it cook for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a nonstick pan, put oil, cumin seeds, ginger garlic paste and saute it for 3 minutes.
Then add onion paste and fry for about 5 minutes, till the masala turns golden brown.
Now, add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, whole red chilies and salt to taste and mix well.
Add tomato puree and fry the masala for 5 minutes till the oil starts separating.
Finally, add kasoori methi. Cover the pan & switch off the heat.
When chana is cooked, put 1 tbsp of chana in a bowl and crush it with a spatula & mix it with the rest of the chana. It will give more thickness to the gravy.
Now pour the fried masala into the cooker and mix well. Let it cook for another 7 minutes on slow heat .
Finally add garam masala and serve hot. While serving ,garnish with washed & chopped coriander leaves.
Serving Instructions
Kala Chana curry goes very well with rice as well as parantha.
